New York City will see a mixture of rain and snow this evening before an arctic blast sweeps into the northeast this weekend, bringing freezing temperatures and gusty winds.
A bitter blast of arctic air is set to settle into the area this evening. The leftovers of a fast-moving weather system coming out of Canada, known as an Alberta Clipper, moved into the Northeast Friday afternoon, bringing some of the ingredients needed for measurable snowfall. Meanwhile, a coastal low off the East Coast is bringing additional energy spinning up off the Carolinas.
Following the quick shot of snow, temperatures will plunge through early next week into the teens and single digits across the Northeast before rebounding for Christmas.Highs on Saturday are expected to reach into the 20s and 30s. However, by Sunday morning, low temperatures will drop into the teens and even single digits for interior portions of the Northeast.
