Will Forte and Kristen Wiig propose rebuilding SF — on rock 'n' roll.

Saturday Night Live

In a"Cut for Time" sketch released today,"Saturday Night Live" proposes some interesting ideas about the future of San Francisco. It begins with a presentation from two entrepreneurs on how to use money from President Joe Biden's infrastructure plan to revitalize the city. The idea? Build a five-star resort and casino on Alcatraz Island.

But right before an ambiguous group of government officials approve the proposal, Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Bowen Yang interject with a better idea: build the city on rock 'n' roll. Dressed as a hair rock band, they present a small-scale model of SF complete with guitar-shaped skyscrapers and a giant hot dog intended to distract Godzilla.

When the panel of government officials shoot down the idea, the band gets angry and blasts modern day San Francisco. Forte says that the city's Chinatown is average at best and that the trolleys are stupid. From there the sketch flies a bit off the rails, then ends in a musical parody of Starship's"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now."
