Bill Yee, a season ticket holder who has rooted for the team since they came to Oakland, has launched an online petition.

But I have nothing on Bill Yee, who’s been a fan since the day the team moved here in 1968. He grew up in Alameda, graduated from Encinal High School and now lives in Stockton but still has season tickets and drives out here as often as he can for the games.

As leadoff hitter, Campy was the spark plug of the offense. His job was to get on base and let the big boppers drive him in. And as shortstop he was also the heart of the defense, since most batted balls tended to go up the middle, where they would die in his glove. In 1965, before the A’s moved to Oakland, he became the first player to play every position in a 13-inning loss to the Angels . He played shortstop in the first inning, then switched to second base, left field, center field, right field, first base, pitcher and catcher in successive innings.
