A non-venomous corn snake took refuge in a police patrol car in Gosport, Hampshire, causing quite a commotion. The officers tried to coax the snake out, but it took some persuading. Fortunately, two passers-by came to their aid, and the snake was eventually extracted. The snake, named Brian, is now being cared for at a local reptile centre.
A non-venomous corn snake took refuge in a police patrol car while the officers were out on a job in Gosport, Hampshire. The officers, who were driving, saw the snake slithering across the road and it slid up the wheel.
PC Biggs, who shared the incident on social media, said the snake 'looked like a complete lunatic' when it wrapped itself around part of the car. The officers tried to coax the snake out, but it took some persuading. Fortunately, two passers-by, Jason Gander and his daughter Kayleigh, who were experienced with handling reptiles, came to their aid. They used a dead mouse to tempt the snake out and a jack to lift the vehicle, making access easier.
A local garage also came to their aid to raise the car higher, allowing Mr Gander to successfully extract the snake. The snake, named Brian, was temporarily placed in a cardboard box and is now being cared for at a local reptile centre. Police have asked the owner to get in touch.
This is not the first time snakes have had a brush with the law, as seen in a 2017 incident in Florida where a policeman had to remove a snake from his office
