Smithsonian American Women's History Museum will be 'inclusive' of transgender women

The proposed SIAmericanWomen will include biological males who identify as transgender women. In a new interview, interim director Lisa Sasaki said that “from the DNA of this museum, there has been a desire to be inclusive.”

"Together, we will create a museum that celebrates the women who have helped build this country. These donations are pivotal in the realization of this vision," Sasaki said.Some of the most notable donors are designer Tory Burch, philanthropist Melinda French Gates, and Walmart heiress Alice L. Walton.This comes as states across the country grapple with the issues of bathroom separation and female sports as the number of transgender-identifying youth rises.
