Christian Wood originally came to Houston as a complementary player to James Harden but Harden wanted out and now Wood is gone, too.The Rockets recognized that fact this week, doing what had to be done andor the No. 26 overall pick in next week’s NBA draft.
But the smart money is still on the Rockets trading Wall or reaching some type of a mutual understanding that he can make less money playing basketball for someone else next season. If that happens? Wall, like Wood, will become useful for the Rockets and give the team another piece to add to the puzzle.The Golden State Warriors are a dynasty. At some point, theoretically, this era of the Rockets should break through and turn on Toyota Center’s electricity again. Thursday’s draft should aid the climb, as the Nos. 3, 17 and 26 picks all belong to Houston’s NBA team.That would immediately give the Rockets two young, talented names with huge upside that haven’t turned 21 yet.
You can also have too many young, talented names with upside on the same roster at the same time, and the Rockets aren’t that far away from being overloaded with young talent that knows little to nothing about winning real NBA games.If Green takes the next step this season, Alperen Sengun continues to impress, Kevin Porter Jr.
