San Miguel Beer passed its first real test against Magnolia, escaping with a 100-98 victory to remain unscathed in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, Feb. 5.
The Beermen flaunted their all-around plays, clamping down on the Hotshots in the final possession to come through with the nail-biting win and the share of the early lead.
June Mar Fajardo also added a double-double effort of 16 points and 10 boards, while Jericho Cruz and Simon Enciso chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively. Paul Lee pulled up a well-challenged buzzer-beating triple in an attempt to save the day for Magnolia, but the ball barely hit the rim.
