The 800-Volt architecture will allow ultra-fast charging for the 100 kWh battery pack which is good for over 341 miles of range
Smart is distancing itself from its reputation for tiny urban vehicles with the Concept #5, a rugged-looking electric compact SUV boasting AWD capability. The Geely-engineered model features and AWD-capable fully electric powertrain and an 800-Volt battery pack with a capacity of over 100 kWh. The production version of the Smart #5 will be introduced in the second half of 2024.
The compact-size SUV will use an 800-Volt architecture instead of the 400-Volt technology found in the smaller #1 and #3. As a result, it will be able to charge from 10-80% in just 15 minutes when connected to the right plug, effectively halving waiting times. The company has not announced the power output of the electric powertrain, but they mentioned that the #5 will offer the option between five driving modes tailored for different road conditions.
