Pierce County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal plane crash that happened near Eatonville Saturday night.

Witnesses reported to deputies at 9:22 p.m. that they saw a small aircraft nose-dive into the forest just south of Eatonville. Responding units found the crash site in the woods with the help of citizens. According to deputies, two people, the 40-year-old pilot and a 53-year-old passenger, died as a result of the plane crash. They were the only two people on the plane since it was a small two-passenger aircraft.
Fire crews and the Explorer Search and Rescue team are assisting PCSD with bringing the victims out of the woods, according to PCSD.
