No one can truly predict when the first warm day of the year will come. Sure, meteorologists have their sky math, but finding the first sign of summer is about more than reaching a temperature threshold. In Brooklyn this past weekend, I knew it was the first warm day, not only because it was a skin-tingling 76 degrees, but because a near-constant aroma of charcoal and wood smoke emanating from grills made its way through my open window.
Especially now, you may be itching to go outside and grill something. Cooking outdoors can combat that cooped-up feeling we’re all experiencing, in addition to shaking up what has likely become a monotonous cooking routine. Grilling has the potential to take what has become a chore and make it a fun activity once more.
Maybe you don’t have a grill because of lack of space or the financial investment it demands. Thankfully, you don’t need the whole-king-of-suburbia setup to grill your dinner. There are a number of grills with small footprints and low price points that allow for democracy in grilling. Simply put, if there’s a grill, there’s a way, and there are a whole lotta grills out there for every type of living situation.
