Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot Wednesday outside a government meeting, according to the European country’s state news agencyFico was shot in the town of Handlova, east of Slovakia’s capital city Bratislava, TASR reported.

The assailant, whose name was not immediately released, was detained on the scene, while the government building where Fico had been was detained, TASR reported.
