The 2024 Boot Drive broke a previous fundraising record by more than $3,000 and more than doubled their goal.
The department broke their personal fundraising record with this year's Boot Drive . SLOCOMB , Ala. - Slocomb Fire-Rescue recently announced a record-breaking fundraiser and a new grant they are set to receive.
“We’ve been needing a side by side for a long time to access rural areas in our protection district,” said Chief Hovey. “We cover the whole east end of Geneva County which services rural areas, so we can have access to patients who we might not otherwise have access to. Hunting accidents and things of that nature.”
In addition to these funds, the department is also set to receive 2700 cans of drinking water from Anheuser Busch. This is through a grant the company does to assist first response teams. With temperatures rising and many of them running into a burning building, the adverse health effects are more likely to occur. Chief Hovey said any aid is needed.
