A woman is facing extradition to Wisconsin after she cut off her electronic monitoring bracelet and escaped a group home where she lived after nearly stabbing her friend to death for the fictional character"Slender Man" nearly a decade ago. Morgan Geyser, 23, was found at a gas station in suburban Posen Sunday with her friend identified as 43-year-old Chad Mecca, more than 150 miles from the Wisconsin group home where she was released to earlier this year after serving time at a psychiatric hospital, according to authorities.Geyser faced a Cook County judge Tuesday morning for an extradition hearing. The now 23-year-old was wanted on a fugitive warrant. During the hearing she waived her right to extradition. She was 15 years old when she pled guilty to attempted first degree intentional homicide and was sentenced to 40 years in a mental health institution for the 2014 stabbing. Police said they initially responded to a service call Sunday for two people sleeping behind the gas station. Body cam video provided by Posen police captured their interaction with Geyser. One of the officers could be heard questioning why she doesn’t want to share her name and asked,"you’re not wanted for murder, right?" “Initially they refused to provide ID,” said Posen police chief William Alexnader. “Through further questioning the female subject made a spontaneous statement that she didn’t want to provide her name because she did something really bad and if she gave us her real name she wouldn’t be able to communicate with her male counterpart.”“Trust me I didn’t want to give it to you,” she said. “You’ll see why in a second.” According to a police report, Geyser fled the group home and took a bus with Mecca. The two met at a local church in Wisconsin and decided to run away together to Nashville. Mecca was charged with misdemeanor trespassing and obstruction of identification and has since been released. Wisconsin authorities were initially worried for the safety of the victim and her family over the weekend. The Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office said they argued against Geyser’s release to a group home. Geyser is under custody of the state’s Department of Health Services because of that the DA’s office said it will be up to DHS to decide whether they want to revoke her conditional release. The DA’s office told NBC Chicago they support it. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of making arrangements to bring Geyser back to Wisconsin. They have 30 days to do so. The DA’s office said she could possibly face charges related to the tampering of the electronic monitoring device in Dane County.
