A SkyWest flight narrowly avoided a collision with an Air Force B-52 bomber near Minot International Airport, prompting the pilot to execute an unexpected maneuver to avert disaster. Passenger-shot video captured the pilot's explanation of the situation, revealing a tense moment that tested air safety protocols.
A SkyWest flight came dangerously close to colliding with an Air Force B-52 bomber near Minot International Airport (MOT) in North Dakota last week. Passenger Monica Green, aboard flight DL3788, captured a video of the pilot's announcement detailing the 'aggressive maneuver' undertaken to avert a mid-air collision with the nearby bomber. \'So sorry about the aggressive maneuver, it caught me by surprise, this is not normal at all.
I don’t know why they didn’t give us a heads up, because the Air Force base does have radar … long story short, it was not fun, but I do apologize for it and thank you for understanding. Not a fun day at work,' the pilot can be heard saying in the video. \The SkyWest flight, designated 3788 and operating as a Delta Connection from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Minot, North Dakota on July 18, landed safely in Minot after receiving clearance for approach from air traffic control. However, a go-around maneuver was executed when another aircraft appeared in their flight path. The airline issued a statement to FOX Television Stations acknowledging the incident: 'We are investigating the incident.' According to ABC News, SkyWest confirmed the incident and stated that the flight, which served as a Delta connection between Minneapolis–Saint Paul airport and MOT, landed safely. The airline is currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the near-collision
