A man who lied about being a millionaire allegedly killed his wife after the lie was exposed.
According to WESH, the trial for David Tronnes, who faces a first-degree murder charge, started Wednesday. The station reported his wife, Shanti Cooper-Thrones, was allegedly murdered back in April 2018.
Investigators told WESH the couple had lofty ambitions and hoped to land their home renovation project on a reality TV show. According to a tweet from WKMG inside the courtroom, the project had become a "money pit," and became a point of contention between the couple. Authorities allege David Tronnes built his relationship on a lie. According to PEOPLE, after the couple connected on Match.com, he allegedly told her he'd inherited $4 million to $6 million from his father. That claim was later found to be untrue.
