Skullcandy launches the Crusher 1080 ANC, featuring exclusive Bose technologies such as TrueSpatial audio with head tracking and QuietControl ANC. The headphones boast redesigned drivers for less distortion, up to 60-hour battery life, and a prominent bass dial, available now for $279.99.

Skullcandy has announced the Crusher 1080 ANC, the latest addition to its bass-focused Crusher headphone line. These headphones stand out by integrating Bose's advanced audio technologies, a partnership that brings notable innovations to Skullcandy's product.

The Crusher 1080 ANC will be the first non-Bose headphones to feature Bose's TrueSpatial audio technology with head tracking. This spatial audio feature works dynamically, whether the listener is stationary or moving, such as during a run. It utilizes Bose's WaveForm audio engine, which is designed to keep the audio full, balanced, and smooth.

In addition to spatial audio, the headphones incorporate Bose's industry-leading noise cancellation. The six-microphone QuietControl ANC system adapts to changes in the surrounding environment, automatically adjusting to louder or quieter sounds for consistent noise reduction. For phone calls, Bose's SpeechClarity technology is included to reduce background noise, ensuring the user's voice is transmitted clearly. The core design philosophy of the Crusher line, which is the adjustable haptic bass, has been refined.

The new model features redesigned drivers with a stiffer diaphragm material. This upgrade aims to enhance overall audio clarity and detail while simultaneously reducing distortion, especially when the bass is heavily boosted and at higher volume levels. Skullcandy acknowledges that its approach of using both full-range and dedicated bass drivers in each ear cup can sometimes compromise audio quality under extreme bass settings, but the new engineering is intended to mitigate that downside.

Control of the bass and other functions is handled via the Skullcandy mobile app or physical on-headphone controls. A more prominent dial for bass adjustment is now positioned on the exterior of the headphones, making tactile adjustments easier. The Crusher 1080 ANC supports modern connectivity including Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio and a low latency mode suitable for gaming or video consumption.

Battery life is estimated at up to 60 hours with the noise cancellation turned off, or 50 hours with ANC active. A rapid charge feature provides up to four hours of playback from a 10-minute charge. The headphones also include multipoint pairing for connecting and switching between multiple devices, auto-reconnect functionality, and wear detection that automatically pauses music when they are removed. A design that folds flat is offered for more convenient storage and portability.

The product is available starting today at a price of $279.99. Color options include black, candy, primer, and cement. The collaboration with Bose represents a significant step for Skullcandy, bringing its signature bass-heavy experience to a wider audience with improved audio fidelity, advanced noise cancellation, and immersive spatial audio, all while maintaining the long battery life and practical features that define the Crusher series
