Bayless is ripping Curry in a desperate bid for relevance.
Desperate for relevance without LeBron James or Stephen A. Smith to cling to, Fox’s Skip Bayless has developed a bizarre fixation on Curry, coming up with a ““This is vintage Finals Steph,” Bayless said on Friday. Curry had 34 points in Thursday night’s Game 1, including a Finals-record six 3-pointers in the first quarter, but Bayless meant it as an insult.
While it may not have been a performance worthy of a sarcastic “vintage,” it was a throwback Bayless performance. Some of the language he used would have fit right on the page when he was ain the 1980s, as he ripped Curry for “all of his showboating and hot-dogging and mouthguard wagging out of his mouth ... all the antics that go with Steph Curry’s threes.”
"On the biggest stage in the biggest moment, Steph Curry displays no clutch gene. He shrinks and disappears." —
