In the centre of Lincolnshire’s coast, Skegness offered some of the UK’s first ever bucket-and-spade breaks. 🏖️ During the golden age of the British seaside, in the 20s and 30s, it became one of the nation’s best-loved holiday destinations.
Hail a taxi or catch the bus to Chapel Point for the North Sea Observatory. Opened in 2018, this angular marine observatory is home to the Seascape Café. The menu puts local produce on a pedestal. Breakfast highlights include the Full Lincolnshire that comes with chubby Lincolnshire sausages and the toasted Lincolnshire plum loaf. Open year-round, the café has both indoor and outdoor seating areas that overlook the sea.
From pubs to sports bars, there’s no shortage of drinking dens in town. In summer, you can even buy a boozy slushie from one of the seafront kiosks and sip it as you stroll around. One place that really stands out from the others, however, is thedistillery, which produces a range of gins and rums using “Dora” the copper still. The distillery’s bar doesn’t accept walk-ins. However, visitors can book on to a range of experiences.
