The Philadelphia 76ers traded forward Danuel House Jr. to the Dallas Mavericks for shooting guard Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second-round pick.
Martin arrived in Philadelphia with significant expectations, but his tenure was marred by injuries. He missed 17 games, including the last 12, impacting his performance. The Sixers decided to trade the forward to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in exchange for Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second-round pick. This move comes just seven months after Martin signed a four-year, $35 million contract with the Sixers.
In Grimes, the Sixers acquire a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who brings valuable depth to the team. Grimes averaged 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 47 games, including 12 starts, for the Mavericks this season. The 24-year-old Houston native is showcasing a career-best 39.8% shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Grimes' journey through the NBA has been marked by various trades. Initially drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 25th pick in the 2021 draft, he was traded to the New York Knicks before ultimately landing with the Detroit Pistons in February 2023. The Pistons then traded him to the Mavericks in July. In his fourth season, Grimes joins the Sixers with career averages of 8.9 points and 2.8 rebounds, alongside a consistent 37.6% three-point shooting accuracy. Prior to his trade to Dallas, the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings were reportedly interested in acquiring Martin, according to a source. The Miami Heat were also considering bringing back their former key role player. Martin's arrival in Philadelphia was met with high expectations. The team envisioned him as their undersized power forward, complementing the already formidable trio. However, injuries significantly hampered his performance throughout the season. This trade also ensures the Sixers will retain a pick in June's draft. If their first-round pick doesn't fall within the top six selections, it will be conveyed to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Prior to this move, the Sixers lacked a second-round pick
