Six Naperville residents were arrested early Monday morning after Naperville police, with the help of two other police departments, broke up a fight outside a Wendy’s fast-food restaurant, Naperville police said.
Officers responding to the 12:41 a.m. call arrived to find a group of 10 to 12 people gathered in a parking lot in the 1500 block of North Route 59, according to police Cmdr. Michaus Williams. Six of them were physically attacking each other, he said. While the cause of the fight is not known, those involved knew each other and were intoxicated, Williams said. “They had an altercation inside of the restaurant … that trickled into the parking lot,” he said.
Three people were arrested on charges of battery and resisting a peace officer: Michael Maughan, 19, of the 1500 block of Bond Street; Brian Ward, 20, of the 1300 block of Modaff Road; and Martin Maughan, 38, of the 1300 block of Modaff Road. Margaret B. Ward, 36, of the 800 block of Corday Drive, and Martin Gerard McDonough, 41, of the 1300 block of Modaff Road, were charged with resisting a peace officer and Patrick Francis Ward, 34, of the 800 block of Corday Drive, was charged with battery.
