Six Flags Great America opens for the 2023 season Saturday. It will be open weekends and select weekdays until May 21, and summer hours begin May 23.
The focus this season is on providing elevated festivals, events and experiences, Kendziora said, including the July 4 celebration and Fright Fest in the fall.“In addition to those events, we’re also going to be introducing some all-new events and festivals this season,” she said.“It’s an all-new celebration for us, and we’re extremely excited to be kicking off the summer with this festival,” she said.
Then there is Neon Nights, a parade that will run nightly June 24 through Aug. 6, except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. “The awesome thing about our celebration is that we’re actually having fireworks every night of that run,” she said.Viva La Fiesta is a Latin-themed event in August when Six Flags heats up with food, music and entertainment.
There will also be new food items in the park, like new Dole Soft Serve flavors; loaded nachos with choice of steak, chicken, brisket or vegetarian; authentic Mexican tacos, tortas and quesadillas; and chicken and waffles. Last summer, Six Flags rebranded an area of the park to DC Universe, which allowed guests to immerse themselves in a DC Comics-inspired world, she said.
