The fire is in a derelict building down Brookfield Street

Residents in Preston have been told to keep windows and doors shut after crews rushed to tackle a fire in a derelict building.

The incident concerns a derelict warehouse in Brookfield Street, near the Emmaus Preston Megastore just off the A6 North Road.Brookfield Street has been taped off my firefighters who continue to examine the building. While no fire is visible at the scene, smoke damage can be seen around an upstairs window.

Station manager Charlene Johnstone told LancsLive at the scene: “It’s been a long night, crews have been quite busy across the county. We got this call round 10am this morning. It’s in the centre of Preston, a derelict building not in use and inside is essentially household waste.
