PETALING JAYA: Five schools in Kedah were ordered to close with immediate effect from Sunday (Aug 2) until Aug 29, according to the state Education Department.

This follows after 11 of the new Covid-19 cases were linked to the Sivagangga Patient Under Investigation cluster in Kedah.There were 14 new cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia reported on Sunday, bringing total infections to 8,999.

Thirteen of the new cases were local transmissions involving Malaysians and there was only one imported case involving a foreigner who came from the Philippines.
