Kathleen Johnson Eyring has died at 82-years-old.The wife of Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints passed

President Henry B. Eyring and his wife, Sister Kathleen Eyring, arrive Saturday morning for the second day of the dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple, Aug.22, 2009 in South Jordan, Utah. The wife of Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Bountiful, Utah on Oct. 15, 2023.

Officials of the Church shared that Kathleen "is remembered by family and friends as an outgoing and fun-loving young woman who excelled in sports and academics, serving as captain of her high school tennis team, the student body president and valedictorian." Kathleen, born May 11, 1941, reportedly studied at the University of Berkeley, where her devotion to the teaching of the Church deepened.

The husband and wife met while attending summer school in Boston. Officials said President Henry B. Eyring, a Harvard student at the time, remembered thinking “If I could only be with her, I could be every good thing I ever wanted to be. “If I could only be with her, I could be every good thing I ever wanted to be.
