Pat McFadden said the party needed a change of direction after four election losses in a row.
Shadow Treasury minister Mr McFadden was reminded that during the 2020 contest he noted how Neil Kinnock had launched a “no-holds-barred” policy review in 1987 after the party suffered a third election defeat in a row.
