Lord Of The Rings star Ian Holm has died

A representative for the actor confirmed he passed away in hospital from an illness related to Parkinson’s disease.Ian Holm played Bernard Samson in the Game, Set and Match trilogy, seen here on the Mexico Set November 19, 1986The rep told The Guardian: "It is with great sadness that the actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88.

"He died peacefully in hospital, with his family and carer. Charming, kind and ferociously talented, we will miss him hugely." The Oscar-nominated actor’s death comes just weeks after he apologised to fans for not being able to join a virtual reunion for the Lord Of The Rings cast.
