A company is offering reimbursement, and traffic is being diverted after a pipeline leak closed a rural road in San Jacinto County on Friday. A single lane has since reopened.

The company behind the damaged pipeline is offering reimbursement to residents temporarily displaced by the leak. Officials in San Jacinto County say repairs to a damaged pipeline causing a leak could take the rest of the weekend.

The county's office of emergency management said the leak happened on Friday, and FM 1127 had to be closed near Highway 59. An alternate route was opened across private property while the closure was in place, but a bridge could not accommodate larger vehicles.

"We extend our deep appreciation to the private landowner for allowing alternate route access across her property,"On Sunday afternoon, officials said a single lane was reopened and that pilot vehicles would be in place to guide motorists through the area. In the 1:30 p.m. update, San Jacinto County did not provide a timeline for the complete repairs.

A spokesperson for ONEOK, an oil and gas operator, said a release on its pipeline outside of Shepherd was caused by a third party that was excavating in the area. The spokesperson said ONEOK employees quickly isolated the affected area and were working to safely remove the product from the line. The spokesperson did not say what the product was.

The spokesperson said that residents who live in the neighborhoods down FM 1127 and are displaced should send reimbursement receipts to RESnotices@oneok.com.
