Occasional Snow Patrol member and long-time collaborator co-writes new record with Morgan Harper-Jones
Singer songwriter Morgan Harper-Jones has a new album coming out and it’s co-written, like more things than you’d possibly imagine, by Co Down legend Iain Archer.
It’s an infectiously fun pop banger that helps her transcend that winsome-girl-with-a-guitar image and proves the adage that a good song will work in any style or format. It’s a tale of unrequited love, and of your mind getting carried away with a fantasy, all wrapped up in deliciously clever ghetto-blaster metaphors.
“Then, Iain Archer blew my mind with some wise words along the lines of ‘life is too short to wait for someone’, and he helped me re-write it into a poppy pop banger, karaoke-worthy banger. Now it has way more of a ‘hey, you’re great I’m great but if you’re not letting me in then byeeeee’ vibe. But really it’s the story of how a music-mad youngster got caught up in the allure of rock ’n’ roll. He took to London amid the 1960s music revolution and went on to become one of the most influential music figures to come out of Ireland.
But I hope readers of Adventures in Wonderland will also recognise how much I have enjoyed being involved in so many different aspects of music – and working closely with artists of outstanding creative ability. It has been an incredible privilege – and wonderfully exciting. So far.”
