SINGAPORE: Singapore's health ministry on Monday confirmed 344 more coronavirus cases, taking its tally of infections to 31,960. Only four of the cases reported were from local Singaporeans.
Singapore is set to move to Phase 1 of its transition out of the circuit breaker period on June 2. It reported 34 cases on Monday bringing the total number to 31,960 and the country has seen 23 deaths up to the date. - The Straits Times/Asian News Network
The Ministry of Health said the lower number of cases today is partly due to fewer tests being conducted. This leaves 16,717 active cases who remain either in hospital or community facilities, of whom eight were in the intensive care unit according to Sunday's update.Singapore has seen 23 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while nine who tested positive have died from other causes.
"I know many are disappointed by our cautious approach," he said in a Facebook post."I hope you appreciate and understand that we are trying our best to resume activities safely for Singaporeans, while keeping infection rates low."
