El sindicato de trabajadores hoteleros de Las Vegas llegó a un acuerdo con MGM Resorts International, el mayor empleador del Strip de Las Vegas, tras el acuerdo logrado con Caesars Entertainment.
El Sindicato de Trabajadores Culinarios anunció el jueves el acuerdo tentativo de cinco años que, según dijo, cubre a unos 25.000 trabajadores en Aria, Bellagio, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, New York-New York y Park MGM. El sindicato publicó en la red social X, antes Twitter, que el acuerdo se logró tras casi 20 horas de negociación. MGM no respondió de momento a una solicitud de comentarios de The Associated Press.
“Al escuchar a nuestros empleados, sabemos que están buscando un aumento salarial para combatir la inflación, entre otras preocupaciones”, dijo Hornbuckle. “Este acuerdo, cuando se anuncie, hará precisamente eso”. Aún podría producirse una huelga en una escala mucho menor si el sindicato y Wynn Resorts no llegan a un acuerdo antes de las 5 a.m. del viernes para 5.000 trabajadores en dos propiedades.
