While the Simpsons currently have thriving areas in Universal Studios, Disney's acquisition of the Fox library opens up possibilities for the iconic family to join the Mouse House's theme park universe.
The Simpsons ride at Universal Studios Hollywood replaced the Back to the Future attraction that had been part of the park’s Upper Lot, which has been transformed over the last decade. Disney fans have long wondered when Bart, Homer and the rest of the Simpsons family would be moving into Disneyland and Walt Disney World after the entertainment giant nabbed the long-running animated TV show as part of a blockbuster deal to buy Fox.
A new survey recently conducted by Disney asks respondents if they would like to see Simpsons themed lands, attractions and meet-and-greet characters in the company’s theme parks, according toThe Disney acquisition did not affect the contract Fox had previously signed with Universal for exclusive rights to the Simpsons in its U.S. theme parks.Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando are home to Simpsons themed lands based on the TV show’s animated town of Springfield.
