Rebecca Ferguson in Silo Season 2 Episode 4
Apple TV+’s dystopian sci-fi drama Silo just concluded its second season, with Season 1 ending with Juliette leaving Silo 18 , Season 2 continues to unravel the world Juliette grew up believing completely.
Through Juliette’s discovery of Silo 17, her new unpredictable friend, Solo , reveals there are 50 silos in total, planting the seed that there was a specific intent for the building of the silos. Juliette’s refusal to clean as she departed Silo 18 inspired a rebellion in hopes of finding out the truth, a rebellion Juliette learns is very similar to one that occurred in Solo’s silo. A rebellion that Juliette knows can put her loved ones in danger, which has been a ticking time bomb ready to explode, pushing her to find a way back home this entire season. Silo 18 Goes to War in 'Silo' Season 2, Episode 10 Close The Season 2 finale of Silo, titled “Into The Fire,” has a few meanings. Firstly, the rebels of Silo 18 and the forces from the upper levels led by Bernard are officially at war. With Martha being a mole for Bernard, the rebels are arrested and detained after learning about their plan to blow up the generator if they don’t get the truth they seek. Of course, this is all part of the master plan — luring the enforcements to the lower levels while the rebels blast levels 90 through 92 to smithereens, leaving the rebels in control of the upper levels with no one to stand in their way. Bernard’s intelligence fuels his arrogance, giving the underdogs the upper hand when their might to find the truth outweighs Bernard’s obsession with keeping order for what he thinks is the greater good. The problem is the rebelling inhabitants believe the answers they are willing to die for are awaiting them outside the silo, which would, ironically, only bring them death. The Secrets of the Lower Levels of the Silo Are Revealed in the 'Silo' Season 2 Finale As Bernard's IT shadow, Lukas Kyle , returns from the lower levels of the silo, he seems both enlightened and horrified by what he has learned Down Deep. He reveals to Bernard that he solved the code of Salvador Quinn’s letter and resigns as his shadow. While Bernard is aware of the other silos, what Lukas reveals to him utterly defeats him. The answers Lukas discovered at the bottom of the silo had to do with the Safeguard, the same secret Juliette and Solo uncover in Silo 17 while searching for a new suit, so Juliette can return home. The Safeguard is a means of killing all inhabitants of the silo at any given moment, usually when a rebellion has gotten out of control. The worst part of it is an outside entity controls this procedure, an entity likely watching over every single silo. This knowledge shows Bernard that he doesn’t have the control he always envisioned he had; he is merely a small piece of a much larger puzzle. Thanks to Solo’s traumatic past, Juliette knows there is a way to prevent this, a way to save her silo.Posts 3 Juliette Returns Home in the 'Silo' Season 2 Finale Juliette returns over the hill just in time to inform her people it's unsafe to go outside. Juliette is not only the spark of the rebellion, but she is also Silo 18’s future leader. That is if she makes it past this final obstacle. As Juliette gains access back into the silo, she is met by Bernard with a gun in hand. While Bernard thinks everything is hopeless, completely out of their hands, Juliette surprises him with her knowledge of the Safeguard. Juliette knows there is a way to stop the Safeguard and save everyone. Before they can continue this discussion, “Into The Fire” takes its second meaning as Juliette and Bernard are trapped in the incinerator chamber. As the flames engulf the screen, we fade to black, leaving the fates of Juliette and Bernard in question. Which also leaves the fate of the entire silo in question. The Safeguard needs to be prevented, and a new regime of Silo 18 will likely be put in place. Who Are Helen and Daniel in 'Silo' Season 2's Closing Scene? The biggest question about the ending of Season 2 of Silo is its closing scene. After the abrupt fade to black, the shot opens on Washington D.C., not a post-apocalyptic version, one that resembles the historic city with the White House present in the background. We see a man enter a bar, but not before he is scanned for radiation. This man is Daniel , a congressman who is meeting Helen , a reporter for The Post. In what looks like a date set up through a dating app, the meeting clearly has a deeper purpose. Daniel and Helen speak about a radiological attack by Iran on the U.S. that changed the trajectory of the world. Helen wonders if the government plans on striking back against Iran and if the attack was from a foreign country at all. Dodging the subject, Daniel leaves but gives Helen a gift. A PEZ dispenser of a rubber duck, the same PEZ dispenser George Wilkins gifted to Juliette in Season 1, with a note citing that he found what he was looking for in the lower levels of Silo 18. The introduction of Helen and Daniel gives the audience their first look into the before times and the first real clue as to how and why the silos were created by The Founders in the first place. Hopefully, Season 3 will give us more looks into the past to help uncover the sought-after truth. The silos were created for a specific reason — it could have been in preparation for a nuclear war, or it could be some sick experiment from the people in power in the country or even the world. With the connection of the PEZ dispenser, it's safe to assume Helen and Daniel played some sort of role in the beginning stages of the silos' creations, possibly even with the class structure that governs each one. The only thing for certain is that more mysteries remain in Seasons 3 and 4 of Silo, which will wrap up the series based on the best-selling novels written by Hugh Howey.Silo TV-MA Science FictionDrama In a dystopian future, men and women reside in a vast underground silo governed by strict regulations, believed to shield them from the hazardous world above.
