SIGNAL No. 4 is up over portions of Batanes and Babuyan Islands as 'Goring' escalated into a super typhoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina said affected areas are the southern portion of Batanes and the northern portions of Babuyan Islands .The rest of Batanes and the southwestern portion of Babuyan Islands are under Signal No. 3.Signal No. 2 is up over the northern portion of mainland Cagayan , and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte .Meanwhile, Pagasa said Signal No.
5 was raised over portions of Batanes and Babuyan Island due to severe winds but it was already downgraded as Goring did not make a landfall in the area,' Badrina said.The Pagasa forecaster said the super typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Wednesday night or Thursday morning.Goring-induced southwest monsoon or 'habagat' will bring occasional rains over the western portions of Luzon and Visayas in the next three days, the state-run weather agency said.
