PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian shuttlers suffered a disappointing exit in the men's team event of the Asian Games after going down 1-3 to South Korea in the round of 16 at the Binjiang Gymnasium in Hangzhou on Thursday (Sept 28).

World No. 16 Lee Zii Jia shockingly went down 14-21, 21-14, 18-21 to world No. 47 Jeon Hyeok-jin in the first singles to give Korea a 1-0 lead.

In the second match, world No. 5 men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik gave Malaysia some hope of turning the tie around after claiming an impressive 21-17, 21-9 victory over reigning world champions Kang Min-hyuk-Seo Seung-jae. However, in the second singles, world No. 19 Ng Tze Yong suffered a disappointing 11-21, 16-21 defeat to world No. 119 Lee Yun-gyu.

Independent men's doubles pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were then tasked to save the tie but failed to do so when they lost out 16-21, 18-21 to scratch pairing Kim Won-ho-Na Sung-seung.
