Ron Millar said he did not expect to be the Shrewsbury Town mascot for more than a game or twoOne of the longest-serving mascots in the Football League is considering retirement after 30 years in the role.
A job offer came his way shortly afterwards, although it was decided to switch to a lion instead of a penguin. "I thought that would be the end of it," he said, but he was then invited to appear on BBC Radio Shropshire and explain why Shrewsbury Town had a penguin for a mascot. Shrewsbury Town currently reside in League One. Mr Millar said he enjoyed the opportunity to "be mischievous" and have fun with the visiting teams.
