In the same interview where he revealed that a Donkey movie was in the works, Eddie Murphy also confirmed the Shrek 5 release date window.
, Murphy revealed a Donkey movie that was in the works, and in the process revealed that Shrek 5 had actually already begun production and voice work “months ago.”
“We started doing Shrek 4 or 5 months ago,” Murphy said. “I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey .”Murphy went on to mention that Shrek 5’s release date window is set for sometime next year, and also revealed that, following that, a Donkey movie would be coming.
“No, not at the same time. I started recording Shrek, I think it’s coming out in 2025, and we’re doing a Donkey one next,” said Murphy.
