DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke chided Muhammad Sanusi for making such remarks and deemed the allegations as unfounded and irresponsible, expressing concern that such sweeping statements negatively impact the country's multi-racial society."If Sanusi fails to provide evidence, he should publicly apologise," Loke stated in a statement on Wednesday .
Loke, who is also Seremban MP, said corruption should not be linked to a particular race and that all parties had a responsibility to fight graft. Muhammad Sanusi had claimed that non-Muslims formed the majority of most arrested for bribery. However, he did not give any data to support his claims. Backing PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's claims that non-Muslims were the cause for corruption in Malaysia, Sanusi pointed his finger at DAP as the ones who started playing the narrative that Malay leaders were involved in bribery.
