A man suspected of shooting at a neighbor in Oakland Monday morning was arrested after a standoff with police.

Oakland police gathered on Montana Street between Wilson and Boston avenues on Monday morning, March 30, 2026 after a report of a shooting, OAKLAND — A man suspected of shooting at his neighbor in the Lower Dimond district Monday morning surrendered to police after a standoff of more than an hour, authorities said.

Officials did not specify what may have prompted the shooting. The suspect apparently went back inside his residence afterward. Numerous police officers responded to the scene, including some using an armored vehicle, and began negotiating with the suspect. He came out of his residence and surrendered about 8:43 a.m., authorities said.
