The hit FX samurai series earlier made history with a record 18 Emmy trophies in another major moment for a non-English language show.
Justin Marks, creator of the historical FX samurai series, when accepting the award following an earlier triumph at the Emmys recalled the absurdity of a day earlier looking with wife and series co-creator Rachel Kondo in their garden at home for a lost 50-pound tortoise.
“Nothing about this show has ever been expected. Truly, it was made on the backs of thousands of yesses that we received over the years from our East-meets-West cast and crew, an extraordinary cast standing right here. To our writer and our directors and our partners at Disney Television, FX and Hulu, all of you guys said yes so many times over the years to a show that on paper you should, quite frankly, have never said yes to.
