A heart-stopping moment was caught on camera as a parent watched a car speed by her kids boarding their school bus and nearly hitting them.It happened on Tuesday on Ash Road . It was a typical Tuesday morning.
Two Penn students were boarding their school bus as usual until a car drove past in front of them and the stopped bus. It missed one of the children by just inches “My kids could have seriously gotten hurt or even killed and that's not okay with me. That's really not okay with me,” said Stacy Zimmerman, Mother of Children. Zimmerman received a text no mother wanted to receive. Her children told her they almost died... while boarding the school bus. Alarmed, Zimmerman looked at her Ring doorbell video to find a car using the shoulder of Ash Road to pass the school bus on its passenger side missing her daughter by just inches..“My blood boiled. I was very angry. Very shocked. I'm very surprised. like, who does that? Who does that? Especially what happened in Rochester,” said Zimmerman. She's referring to an incident in 2018 where three children were killed while crossing the street to board their school bus.Woman who hit, killed 3 kids at Fulton County bus stop could be released from prison earlyZimmerman is thankful that her children are safe but is hoping to remind people to stop when the bus stops.Stop-arm violations have nearly doubled this school year. “I was telling some other people we were having a conversation in the office earlier and we did a little data check and we have been averaging as bad as it is 14 stop-arm violations in the 23-24 school year per month. This year from August until now we have averaged 30 per month,” said Tugmon.The St. Joseph County Police are also searching for the driver.And the driver is described as a petite black female, standing at approximately 5-foot 4-inches with long braids with some being red. Zimmerman says she hopes the woman who passed the bus is found and held accountable but is thankful her children are safe.
