The teacher is also accused of sexually assaulting a second student later that month, authorities say.

A middle school teacher at a Sherman Oaks school has been charged with molestation and a lewd act on a child, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office announced on Thursday, June 1.

Karen Spann, 46, an 8th-grade teacher at Louis Armstrong Middle School, was charged with one felony count of a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 and one misdemeanor count of child molestation.Investigators say that Spann began having an inappropriate relationship, which led to grooming, with a student in April. The grooming then led to inappropriate touching.

Later that month, Spann allegedly assaulted a second child at lunch time on school property, the DA said in a news release. The LAPD asks anyone who may be a victim of the suspect to report their experience to law enforcement at 374-5415.
