A sheriff’s deputy in Toledo, Ohio, was suspended on Monday after issuing a woman a warning in lieu of a traffic ticket — and then asking her out on a date.
The woman said she was approached on May 25 by Deputy Richard Strong of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, who was sitting in his marked vehicle in the parking lot of a Family Dollar Store, according to WTVG. Strong allegedly remained in his vehicle but motioned to the woman to walk over to him.
But he told her he’d do her a favor and let her leave with just a verbal warning instead. Then, the woman said Strong became inappropriate, handing her a card with his personal phone number on it and saying, “We oughta hang out sometime.”
