The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina is undergoing a $100 million renovation, its most ambitious ever. The renovation includes modernizing guestrooms, updating meeting spaces, resurfacing the pool area, and reimagining food and beverage venues.
The last time the aging Sheraton hotel on Harbor Island got a major overhaul was in 1994 when the showpiece of its reinvented lobby was a 4,000-gallon saltwater aquarium designed by the same person who helped create SeaWorld's Shark Encounter.
Earlier this month, workers labored for a week to dismantle the gargantuan glass tank as a construction crew prepared to transform the lobby yet again — this time as part of an extensive $100 million renovation, which the waterfront hotel's management boasts is its most ambitious ever. The vast majority of the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina's more than 1,000 guestrooms have already been modernized, including all new bathrooms, and 130,000 square feet of meeting space got a top-to-bottom makeover, along with new digital signage and a clean air filtration system.
