Neighbors on West Drive are asking for updates on a roadwork project that has stretched into its eighth month.
SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio - Neighbors on West Drive are asking for updates on a roadwork project that has stretched into its eighth month. A sign on the street indicates the road will be closed at least 85 days, but the project is fast approaching the one-year mark.
Barbara Peck, who lives on West Drive, said signs went up in October to replace piping under the road. The roadwork, she adds, has constricted driving for months. And drainage is a continuous issue, especially during the spring rains. Many storm drains are sitting above the ground, with wells formed around the base of the installed drains, putting the waterline where the water would normally drain high above the actual ground.
“We just want answers, that’s all we’re asking for, we know that there’s issues that arise that cause delays,” Peck said. “That would be amazing, that’s all we’re asking for is just to have an update, honesty, an open conversation. ” She is asking for better communication from the city and a timeline on when the work will be completed.
