Cleveland Browns quarterback is replacing New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the Pro Bowl Games.

“I think this is totally unfair to Shedeur, and I hate it for him. I absolutely hate it. I know the anti-Shedeur people out there just want him gone,” Carmen said. “You guys know it’s not fair. He can’t say no. You’re doing a solid to the NFL. You can’t turn that down, so you have to go to the Pro Bowl Games.” Carmen also said the selection has created “nonstop jokes” aimed at Sanders, who is still developing as a quarterback, and is putting him in a game that “has been dead for over a decade.” “We were just sitting here bickering about how well he’s being taken care of and how well he’s not been taken care of,” Carmen said. “Whether or not they’ve been putting the boots to him on purpose or not, he has been a lightning rod for controversy in this city, and you go, ‘Oh, yeah, let’s put him in the Pro Bowl there’ so we can expose him, we can make jokes or we can get ratings? Because, again, he can’t say no.” Sanders, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 draft, started the season as the Browns’ third-string quarterback. However, after the Browns traded, Sanders became the starter. He finished the season completing 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight games. Although those numbers are not among the leaders in any category, Sanders was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate.
