Firefighters have worked through the night.
Emergency services were called to the derelict building on Kilmarnock Road, formerly home to the White Elephant cinema, around 7pm on Tuesday evening.It's understood that the fire was brought under control around 5.47am on Wednesday morning and crews still remain on the scene to make the area safe.

The extent of damage to the building is currently unknown with members of the public raising concerns that the incident could spell the end for the building that sits within the Shawlands Cross Conservation Area.
