NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal addressed recent resurfaced claims of him engaging in bathroom-related hazing pranks during his playing days. Former teammates Gary Payton and Ty Lue previously alleged O'Neal would dump buckets of waste on rookies and defecate in a teammate's shoe.
Over the years, San Antonio high school basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal has earned legions of fans through his work in sports, music, entertainment, business and charity. It's from this revered perch that he took to social media this week to poo-poo recently resurfaced allegations about the kind of bathroom antics that might smear one's reputation.

In a February 2022 interview with VLADTV, fellow NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton claimed that when he and Shaq played together for the Miami Heat two decades ago, the big man would dump buckets of his own human waste on rookies' heads in the bathroom stall to haze them. Shaq was around 33 years old at the time. 'We used to always play jokes,' said Payton, who played alongside Shaq when their Miami Heat team won the NBA championship in 2006. 'Shaq is a jokester. So if one of the rookies would be in the stall, he would take a bucket and use the bathroom in it for about a week. And then all of a sudden, he would pour it on them. So we started being jokesters.' According to Payton during the 2022 interview, he still had the pair of Shaq's stolen boxers somewhere in his house. In another alleged instance of waste-related hazing, current Los Angeles Clippers coach and former Lakers teammate Ty Lue claimed that O'Neal once defecated in Devean George's shoe before a Lakers game, and George stepped in it. 'He didn't do it. Shaq said, 'I'm going to get you.' So we're getting ready for a game ... Shaq goes in the bathroom, takes shoe in there, he sh-ts in his shoe.' Lue said Shaq then squished his feces farther into the shoe so it wouldn't be visible, and put it back in its place. 'Devean George comes in and gets ready for the game, puts his shoe on.' Lue again told the story about 'Shaq's craziest prank' in an interview Wednesday on the 'Draymond Green Show.' That sent Shaq to Instagram to lay waste to the allegations. 'I most certainly did not @draymondshow @iambarondavis don’t listen to him this is what they call. #allegedly,' O'Neal wrote. '@bigpidcastwithshaq #thedraymondshow can’t believe he said that shhhhhhhh.' O'Neal did not respond immediately to an Express-News request for comment.
