What exactly triggered the memo, dated Jan. 9, is unclear, and the SHA was not able to give a specific reason why the memo was sent out province-wide. In an emailed statement David Freeman, SHA media relations specialist, did not specify if any particular incident precipitated the memo being sent.

Similarly, the Regina Police Service was not aware of any manner of criminal complaint made from or around either Regina hospital during the time span related to the memo being sent out.Article content “It’s a good reminder to folks because we’re in the day of people texting when they’re getting off shift and stuff like that. Everybody does that pretty much when they’re walking,” said Anderson. He added that people should keep their heads up while coming to or leaving work. “One of the best precautions you can have is being intuitive and ensuring that you’re not walking by somebody that looks sketchy or something. Keep yourself as safe as possible,” he said. In Regina, the Saskatchewan government is looking for, at minimum, 566 more parking stalls at the Regina General Hospital by way of a parkade.
