Paramedics were called to the Powell Street BART station to treat the victim, disrupting BART and Muni service for roughly two hours
San Francisco police officers shot and injured a man Friday morning who was allegedly armed with a gun near the Powell Street BART station, according to city officials.
“From that point, our officers formulated a plan to contain him,” Scott said during the press conference, adding that a foot pursuit ensued once the suspect got out of his vehicle and “went on for a couple of blocks.” Friday’s shooting was the third police shooting this year, and the department is required to hold a town hall about the incident within 10 days. There were five police shootings in San Francisco in 2023, up from four in 2022 and two in 2021.
