San Francisco is a pretty dramatic outlier when compared with the rest of its Bay Area counterparts

came out hard against Proposition 30, a tax increase on high-income earners that would pay for state climate programs. The state's voters largely took Newsom's side and voted"no."by the Associated Press."Yes" is only leading in six of California's 58 counties: Alpine, Humboldt, Mendocino, Monterey, San Francisco and Santa Cruz.

, as you can see in the table below. The table also contains figures for how much of the expected vote is in,"Yes" may still end up winning in Alameda County, where elections officials are counting ballots at a glacial pace. Still, it appears unlikely that any other Bay Area county will end up matching San Francisco's"yes" vote share of 64.7%

Newsom had argued that Prop. 30, which would benefit Lyft, was"fiscally irresponsible and puts the profits of a single corporation ahead of the welfare of the entire state."according to California campaign finance filings reviewed by SFGATE. Newsom’s ballot measure committee also lodged a separate $250,000 donation against Prop. 30 on Oct. 31, bringing his total opposition to $1,867,216.88. The only group that had spent more against Prop. 30 was the California Teachers Association Issues political action committee.

Environmental groups were annoyed with Newsom, arguing it’s irrelevant whether or not a corporation like Lyft might disproportionately benefit from the measure.
